Dan Beatty (Class of 1976)Dan retired from the Air Force in 2004 after 33 ½ years as an enlisted man, cadet, and officer. As an officer, he was a career helicopter pilot in CSAR and Special Operations helos. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a development office at the Association of Graduates. In 2006 he took a contractor position with DynCorp in Afghanistan and ran an aerial operation supporting the State Department. From 2008 until 2014 Dan was an EMS helicopter pilot in Colorado, spending most of that time flying out of Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. He is completely retired as of July 2014. He is involved in numerous organizations in the local area and is currently the Commander, American Legion Post 9-11; Flight Captain, Falcon Flight 11, Order of Daedalians; and is the incumbent President of the Rampart Chapter, Association of Graduates. He has served on the Rampart Chapter Board as an officer or director since the early 2000’s. He and his wife Martha (also USAF retired) have sponsored numerous cadets since moving to Colorado Springs in 1999. Dan has also served as Chair or Co-Chair for his class reunions since 2001. In addition, Dan is a member of a local Rotary club, the local Air Force Association chapter, the local MOAA chapter, a local VFW chapter, and the Academy Ladies and Gentlemen group. Dan vigorously supports the local community and Veterans organizations, with special emphasis on the United States Air Force Academy, and USAFA graduate and cadet activities.
